The City University of Macau (CityU Macau), formerly known as the University of East Asia founded in 1981, was renamed in 2011 with strategic development outline of “Rename, Restructure, Transform, Upgrade”, with 45 years of educational history so far.

 

CityU Macau is located in Macau, strategic and prime location connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the world, a multicultural environment with English, Chinese and Portuguese. It’s home to nearly 13,000 current students in 3 Campuses, offering nearly 50 Chinese- and English- programs with the support of 11 strong faculties with global academic and professional backgrounds. 

 

CityU Macau is one of the five comprehensive universities in Macau, with 12 bachelor’s degree programs, 22 master’s degree programs, and 15 doctoral and PhD programs. It has 23 distinctive research institutions/ research centers, many of which are first of their kind in the city. Over the years, the teams have delivered significant research outcomes to serve social development.

GCEEC & CITYU

Since 2025, City University of Macau has formally established an official partnership with GCEEC. Authorized by the university, GCEEC China representative office serves as its International Affairs Office. We report directly to the university's senior leadership, and lead the international students recruitment and admission. International students refer to students from all countries and regions globally excluding China (Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan).

International students applying to CityU Macau through GCEEC will be eligible to apply for the Tuition-Waiver Admission Pathway. This program includes full tuition waiver and partial accommodation subsidy, aiming to encourage outstanding international students to pursue advanced studies at CityU Macau. This partnership provides international students with a streamlined application pathway and robust financial support, empowering them to achieve their academic aspirations.
