Hangzhou Dianzi University
Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU), established in 1956, is a key teaching and research-oriented university in Zhejiang Province. Known for its strength in electronic information, HDU is jointly built by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. It has shown strong innovation capacity and disciplinary advantage in the digital economy era.
Academic Strengths
HDU has prominent academic strengths in disciplines such as Electronic Science and Technology, Computer Science and Technology, and Control Science and Engineering. The discipline of Electronic Science and Technology was rated B+ in the fourth round of China’s national academic evaluation. HDU hosts several high-level research platforms, including the “Electronic Information Processing” Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of New Network Standards and Application Technologies. The university has significant achievements in AI, cybersecurity, and medical electronics.
International Collaboration
HDU’s international partnerships are characterized by a focus on digital economy-related research. In cooperation with the University of Technology Sydney, it established the China-Australia Joint Laboratory for Digital Health, which has developed intelligent diagnostic systems already in use in top-tier hospitals across China. HDU demonstrates strong capabilities in technology transfer and industry cooperation. Its cybersecurity research has been integrated into Alibaba Cloud’s security defense systems, and its medical electronics technologies have been transferred to several medical device companies. Notably, digital economy startups incubated at HDU have grown rapidly—e.g., “DBAPPSecurity,” focused on industrial internet security, is now listed on the STAR Market. The university’s technology transfer center has facilitated over 300 million RMB in technology commercialization in the past three years.
