On April 12, a delegation of over 30 Spanish entrepreneurs, organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Shenzhen, arrived in China, starting their journey with a visit to Qianhai. The delegation visited the Qianhai Shekou Free Trade Area in Shenzhen to learn about the city's business environment and explore potential cooperation opportunities.
The delegation included executives and industry elites from 16 well-known Spanish companies, such as Spain's Dufry Group, Tradeinn, SanLucar, Alzamora Group, Lola Casademunt, and Enrique Tomás. These companies cover sectors such as finance, construction, pharmaceuticals, packaging, food, fashion design, and e-commerce. Among them, Dufry Group is based in both China and Spain, with businesses spanning healthcare, legal consulting, and public welfare. Tradeinn specializes in e-commerce for sports products, serving over 190 countries. Alzamora Group has been a leader in the cardboard and plastic packaging industry for over a century. SanLucar operates 12 subsidiaries and 35 farms worldwide and ranks among the top three in Europe's fruit and vegetable industry. The delegation also included young entrepreneurs and professionals, showcasing the vitality and innovative potential of Spain's business community.
During their visit, the Spanish entrepreneurs focused on understanding the international business environment and industrial development policies in Shenzhen and Qianhai. This visit continued the tradition of friendly cooperation between Shenzhen and major Spanish cities and opened new pathways for high-quality cooperation within the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative. In the future, the two regions are expected to make further breakthroughs in areas such as new energy, digital economy, and smart cities, setting a new example of regional cooperation for the joint maintenance of economic globalization trends and the international trade environment.
In recent years, interactions between Shenzhen Qianhai and major Spanish cities have become more frequent, with both sides deepening cooperation in trade, industry connections, and other areas. In June 2024 and March 2025, a Qianhai delegation will visit Spain to actively promote practical exchanges and cooperation with Spanish cities. In February of this year, the Qianhai Shekou Free Trade Area Management Committee signed a cooperation agreement with the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Alliance, injecting new momentum into the ongoing collaboration between the two regions. The visit of the Spanish business delegation is another concrete step in strengthening their partnership.
Additionally, from April 1 to 3 this year, over 100 foreign business representatives and association members visited Qianhai for the "Guangdong Tour" organized for foreign enterprises. In early March, Qianhai launched a series of activities called "Port Connecting the World, Sea Embracing Opportunities—Hong Kong Foreign Business Associations Visit Qianhai" to accelerate international cooperation and promote the "Belt and Road" initiative. Over the past month, business chambers from more than 10 countries, including the Hong Kong European Chamber of Commerce, British Chamber of Commerce, German Chamber of Commerce, Italian Chamber of Commerce, Singapore Chamber of Commerce, and Philippines Chamber of Commerce, have visited Qianhai to discuss cooperation. Events such as promotional sessions and business matchmaking meetings were organized in collaboration with organizations like the London Development Agency, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, and others, driving cooperation in technology innovation, cultural creativity, financial technology, and more. Several cooperation intentions have been reached.
Currently, Qianhai is continuing to expand its international "circle of friends" and actively exploring bi-directional investment opportunities between regions. It is helping companies navigate overseas operations in an orderly, effective, and safe manner, positioning itself as a high-level open gateway. Qilian Li, president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Shenzhen, expressed: "The openness and innovation of Shenzhen and Qianhai provide a broad platform for Spanish enterprises, and we look forward to pushing more projects forward through this visit, contributing to a win-win development between the two regions.
