    Innovative Laboratories

    The university operates numerous key laboratories and research institutes that support research and teaching. These include the Intelligent Motion Research Lab, Smart Manufacturing Decision Research Lab, Frontier Research Lab of Intelligent Science, the Center for Standardization Research, and a comprehensive administrative office. Research teams at SPU undertake a wide range of national projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Innovative Research Groups, National Intelligent Manufacturing Standardization and New Model Application Projects, the National Key R&D Program, and major and general NSFC projects.     SPU maintains a strong applied research orientation and has significantly enhanced its research capacity. In the past five years, the university has secured 293 provincial-level and above research projects, including 72 funded by the NSFC. The total scientific research funding has exceeded RMB 700 million, with annual revenue from technology services and training reaching over RMB 62 million. The university has obtained 391 national invention and PCT patents, developed 106 international, national, industry, local, and group standards, and contributed to resolving three critical &#

    SPU has established 29 provincial/ministerial-level research platforms, introduced six academician workstations and laboratories, and founded 11 applied technology innovation centers, 10 public technical service platforms, and 8 high-end think tanks.     1) Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics: Home to the Institutes of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology and Intelligent Science and Engineering, focusing on advanced manufacturing and robotics.

    2) Artificial Intelligence and Big Data: Jointly established the AI and Digital Economy Innovation Center with the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory for AI and Digital Economy (Shenzhen), promoting applications in AI and big data.
